Mum Cupcake Bouquet – Video for Mother’s Day

Several years ago I created this Mum Cupcake Bouquet.  I first posted the recipe in 2014, and then in 2015 I created a video where I’m talking and demonstrating how to make them.

Now that 1 minute videos are all the rage, I decided to recreate it.  I’m still trying to perfect my 1 minute video skills. The video is slightly blurry at all times, a disability without an external monitor. That can be especially tough when video recording solo. I think you’ll get the idea though.

Below you can watch my 1 minute version of how to make a Mum Cupcake Bouquet as well as the extended version, if desired.  I’ve also included the recipe below.

This is a great project to have the kids get involved in.  Even a 2 year old could master these.  They’re pretty hard to mess up!

I hope you’ll try making a Mum Cupcake Bouquet this Mother’s Day. Please post your photos on my Facebook Page once you’ve created yours. I can’t wait to see them!

Mum Cupcake Bouquet

A simple yet beautiful Mum Cupcake Bouquet to create for Mother's Day!

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Cut approximately 40 miniature  marshmallows in 1/2 on the diagonal, and set aside in a bowl.
  2. Have sanding sugar or sprinkles in a container
  3. Spread icing on the top of a cupcake.  Do this one at a time, otherwise the icing will form a crust, making it difficult for marshmallows to adhere to cupcake.
  4. Dip each cut 1/2 of marshmallow into the sanding sugar/sprinkles and starting at the outer edge, add the dipped marshmallows to the cupcake, sanding sugar facing inward.
  5. After you finish lining the marshmallows on the outer edge in a full circle, add the next row in front of the previous circle.  Continue adding the marshmallows - be sure to put them close together - until you've added all of them.  You should have an empty spot in the middle.
  6. Add a candy ball, Good & Plenty candy or Jelly Bean in the center.
  7. You've now completed one cupcake.
  8. Continue with the remaining cupcakes.  When finished, arrange on a platter and using green licorice, lay next to base of cupcakes to resemble stems.
Enjoy!!!
