Luscious Valentine’s Day Fare

Valentine's Day Truffles rolled in sprinkles

I can hardly believe Valentine’s Day is this Sunday.  Hibernating due to covid has caused me to lose all track of time.  In fact, I want to apologize for being absent for so long.  My sisters and I have been cleaning out our family home now that both our parents are gone.  We sold the house and have had the difficult  and emotional task of cleaning out 56 years of memories.

As you can imagine it’s not easy, especially during covid.  At the end of this month the three of us will walk out the doors of our family home forever. A home our dad built in 1965. The walls of our home always heard laughter, smelled luscious foods, and welcomed family and friends near and far. It will definitely be bittersweet.

I’ve been so consumed with clearing out the house I almost forgot Valentine’s Day is this Sunday.  So I thought I’d share some of my favorite treats and dishes with you to celebrate the day.  Here they are…………………

Decadent Valentine’s Day Truffles

These truffles are easy to prepare, sinfully delicious, and so pretty! Who wouldn’t love these?

Decadent Chocolate Valentine Truffles

Salmon with Red Wine Sauce – This simple dish has a velvety smooth sauce that will have you reaching for something to soak up whatever sauce remains on your plate.

Valentine Bark – sometimes we just need a little bit of chocolate to take the edge off.  This quick & easy Valentine Bark says it all without feeling guilty indulging.

Grilled Beef Filet with Chimichurri & Farro Salad

This is a post I created years ago for Strauss Direct using their Beef Filets.  The dish is sensational and makes a great presentation.  Since Valentine’s Day is tomorrow head to your favorite market nearby to purchase your beef filets.

Grilled Beef Tenderloin with Chimichurri & Farro Salad

No-Bake Strawberry Chocolate Tart – If you’re looking for an extravagant dessert this Valentine’s Day but don’t want to spend time slaving in the kitchen, this dessert is ideal!  If you don’t have a heart shaped pan, any pan with do.  If possible, try to use a pan with a removable bottom.

Wishing everyone a Safe & Happy Valentine’s Day!

  1. So sorry that you had to go through such a difficult time, (((Vicki))) .

One more reason that you should celebrate the V-day which marks the beautiful bond of love. The truffles and chocolate tart are so gorgeous, but my favourite is that grilled beef filet!

  2. So many yummy treats!! I’m just baking brownies 🙂

I’ve been in your shoes. My sisters and I cleared out almost 5 decades of stuff from our parents’ house. It’s a lot of work!! And it was our last permanent connection to our hometown.

    • Oh I know. It’s been brutal. We have a week left before we turn the keys over to another very nice family. We hope they will have and build the same wonderful memories in our home as we have had.

  3. So sorry for your loss. Cleaning out a house is tough duty, alas. Anyway, so many nice recipes here. Thanks!
